Unfortunately, I don’t have the answers for agents yet, since I haven’t started querying (but this stage is right around the corner). What I’ve gathered is it just a lot of perseverance and putting your best work and self forward. There are a lot of resources around the web on the process, and of course the Writers Market guidebook. Duotrope.com is also handy for finding markets. I’m writing a novel and the end is in sight although there’s still a lot of work to do. I’d be interested to know how you get on with securing an agent. I sent another story of mine to a couple of agents via email a couple of years ago but got nowhere. I’m thinking of self publishing my current story via Kindle. So I’ll see where that takes me.
