Fortunately I have some spider-killing cats…but my arachnophobia is residual from killing spiders for my arachnophobic mom as a child (that’s right, mom, I’m calling you out on this, right now! ). She took care of the black widows, fortunately, but I’ve been creeped out by spiders ever since. I am so sorry for the horrific insect pictures you must endure. Ew. Yep, you pretty much captured it. Gross. Gross. Gross.
I don’t have arachnophobia but I only ever come across house spiders and since I once read an article about how beneficial they are, I never kill them. However, when I read about insects to my son (upon demand) they always include pictures of Black Widows, etc., with huge abdomens or hairy legs and I gag. Now I have this dream to deal with…and your story. Thanks.

Spiders! They are so fascinating. I remember how I used to watch a spider in our backyard. I watched her for months! Here, you’ve written a wonderful piece about the silk-weaver. And it reminds me of one of my poems Black Widow. Thanks for the piece.
